چکیده
Abstract The contributions of the current analytical models on prediction stability slope subjected to slide head toppling failure mechanisms, have always focused idealized geometry comprising regular blocks dipping into face. Besides, influence groundwater and stabilizations from lowermost block been overlooked in available literature. In this article, solutions that incorporates kinematic mechanisms jointed rock under stabilizing are derived based limit equilibrium. Furthermore, a real case history was studied illustrate effectiveness presented solutions. investigation results indicate presence slope, lowers distributions normal shear forces thereby inducing toppling. Reinforcing enhances thus improving slope. study depict can provide an accurate efficient analyses considering stabilization effects.

Numerical analysis of slide-head-toppling failure
In layered and blocky rock slopes, toppling failure is a common mode of instability that may occur in mining engineering. If this type of slope failure occurs as a consequence of another type of failure, it is referred to as the secondary toppling failure. “Slide-head-toppling” is a type of secondary toppling failures, where the upper part of the slope is toppled as a consequence of a semi-circ...
متن کاملFlexural Toppling Failure in Rock Slopes: From Theory to Applications
Toppling failure is one of the most common modes of failure of rock slopes in layered rock strata. Flexural toppling is one of the well-known modes of the failure. This type of failure occurs due to bending stress. In this article, a brief yet comprehensive review of toppling failure is presented. Firstly, the conditions and general mechanism of the failure are described. Then, experimental, th...
متن کاملBack analyses for slope failures in rock
Some of the geotechnical parameters used in the analysis may not be accurately measured directly from laboratory tests due to effects of sample disturbance and errors of tests. The back analysis or the observational method are thus often applied to determine the representative and/or dominant strength parameters based on field observations in practice. Based on the Hoek-Brown failure criterion,...
متن کاملSystem reliability approach to rock slope stability
A systematic quantitative methodology for the reliability analysis of stability of rock slopes is presented. A sliding mass resting on an inclined plane and composed of two blocks separated by a vertical tension crack is considered, and a disjoint cut-set system formulation is proposed, with each cut-set corresponding to a different failure mode of the slope. Methods for the evaluation of the s...
